We take responsibility
Responsible transition to a fossil-free future
Climate change is one of the biggest challenges we face as a society, which is why the shift to renewable forms of energy such as solar and wind energy is crucial. At Momentum, we are actively working to accelerate the green transition. Our goal is to reduce global CO2 emissions by developing and producing green energy in the most sustainable way to create value for people, society and nature.
We are dedicated to optimizing and extending the lifetime of the energy plants already in operation while developing new plants. In this way, we can increase the production of renewable energy and make green power more accessible to society.
However, it is crucial that the green transition does not come at the expense of the environment or people. That’s why we work hard to minimize and, where possible, completely avoid negative impacts on people and the environment from our activities.
In our sustainability efforts, we focus primarily on reducing our carbon footprint, protecting biodiversity, increasing recycling and minimizing waste, working with local communities, improving employee conditions and ensuring responsible sourcing.
In our sustainability efforts, we focus in particular on:
– Reducing ourCO2 emissions
– Protecting and enhancing biodiversity in our projects
– Maximize recycling and minimize waste
– Work closely with neighbors, local authorities and other relevant community stakeholders
– Strengthen our commitment to the safety and well-being of our employees
– Ensure responsible procurement of solar panels and other components
Environmental
Reduction of CO2 emissions
With an annual production of green power of over 400 GWh, our facilities produce significantly more energy than we consume. Nevertheless, reducing our CO2 emissions is essential for us to reach our goal of producing green energy in the most sustainable way.
Our goal is to achieve carbon neutrality in our own energy consumption (scope 1 and 2) by 2025. In addition, we focus on reducing emissions from our suppliers, partners and other actors in the value chain to reduce our overall carbon footprint.
Biodiversity and nature promotion
The climate and biodiversity crisis are inextricably linked and require us to change the way we use the landscape. Therefore, when developing new renewable energy projects, we focus on creating coherent and multifunctional landscapes that allow climate and biodiversity to work together in the best possible way.
Our overall goal is for our renewable energy projects to help strengthen, protect and restore nature, leaving it better than it was in the first place.
Together with experts, we have developed a concrete plan that gives us a tool to integrate biodiversity and nature in the planning of new onshore solar and wind projects.
Among other things, the plan includes a structured process that describes the specific steps we follow in each project to create the best conditions for biodiversity and meet the needs and wishes of the local community.
Maximum recycling and minimal waste
At Momentum, we strive to maximize the production of green energy from both our customers’ and our own wind turbines and solar parks. We do this through monitoring and ongoing service of the renewable energy plants and by extending their technical lifetime by replacing components as long as it makes sense both economically and environmentally.
When the wind turbines reach the end of their technical lifetime and need to be dismantled, we strive for as many components as possible to be reused in other of our own turbines or resold, and for the remaining materials to be sent for recycling so they can be incorporated into new products.
Our ultimate goal is that no resources from decommissioned turbines are wasted, which is why we continuously work to rethink, further develop and systematize our work with circularity.
Social
Local dialog and collaboration
We develop our renewable energy projects in close collaboration with municipalities, landowners and local citizens. We are aware that wind turbines and solar farms affect the areas they are placed in, which is why it is important for us to build strong relationships with local communities. This way, we can ensure that we take into account the local citizens, the environment and the biodiversity of the area. We want those living close to our projects to experience the positive effects of wind turbines and solar farms and benefit from the opportunities they bring.
It is important that neighbors are informed and consulted from the earliest planning stages, which is why we involve local stakeholders at different levels in all our projects.
We make direct contact with individuals and organize coffee mornings and town hall meetings where everyone is encouraged to participate and contribute. In addition, we establish project-specific websites that present and contain the technical aspects, environmental impacts, visualizations and initiatives, and show how project revenues benefit local stakeholders.
Focus on employee safety and well-being
The safety of our employees is always our top priority. We continuously work to ensure the best working conditions through thorough training and effective health & safety measures to create a safe and secure environment for both employees and partners.
To support our employees’ well-being and mental health, we continuously work to promote a good working life through initiatives such as a stress policy that opens up a healthy dialog about stress and how we can prevent and manage it.
We value and support diversity, inclusion and equality in our workplace. And we strive to create an environment where everyone, regardless of background or identity, feels valued, respected and thrives.
Governance
“We are committed to increasing our positive contribution
to society and minimizing our negative impacts
on the environment and people. This is the core
of our ESG efforts. It requires, among other things, that we integrate
sustainability at all levels of the company,
so that it becomes a natural part of the way
we think and act every day”

Responsible sourcing
The green transition must be a just transition, which is why we work hard to reduce the risk of our activities negatively impacting employees, local communities or the environment in the supply chain.
In solar energy, we face particular challenges, especially in the production of polysilicon for solar panels, where the risk of unsafe conditions is significant. This is a complex issue that we take very seriously.
To promote a more responsible supply chain, we are working to strengthen our supplier screening procedures and collaboration with suppliers. As part of this effort, we participate in the industry initiative Solar Human Rights Project, which provides us with valuable knowledge and tools to minimize the risk of human rights and labor rights violations when sourcing components for solar installations.
Our contribution to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
At Momentum, we are inspired by the UN Sustainable Development Goals. As a developer, manager and owner of solar and wind projects, we focus on the goals where we can make the biggest positive difference, both through our core business and our work with environmental and social sustainability.
SDG 7: Sustainable energy
At Momentum, we work to ensure that more people have access to cheap and stable renewable energy. We do this by optimizing the operation and extending the technical lifetime of both our own and our customers’ wind turbines and solar plants, and by developing new renewable energy projects.
SDG 8: Decent jobs and economic growth
To ensure decent jobs and equal employment opportunities, we prioritize a safe and inclusive work environment at Momentum. We actively work to ensure good working conditions, strengthen diversity and equality and maintain high standards for human rights and working conditions both in our organization and throughout our value chain.
SDG 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
We actively work to develop efficient infrastructure and reliable renewable energy solutions. We strive to find solutions that support future energy needs and ensure that existing energy facilities are optimized through thorough maintenance and lifetime extension. In addition, we focus on promoting innovation that can improve both energy production and infrastructure in the future.
SDG 12: Responsible consumption and production
At Momentum, we are committed to promoting responsible consumption and production by integrating circular principles into our operations. We extend the lifetime of our and our customers’ wind turbines and give used components from end-of-life turbines a new life by reusing them in other turbines, while the remaining materials are recycled into new products or disposed of responsibly.
SDG 13: Climate action
As an active part of the green transition, we work to combat climate change by reducing global CO2 emissions. We contribute to increasing the share of renewable energy in society by investing in and developing renewable energy projects. In addition, we work with CO2-reducing measures in our own operations.
We support the UN global principles
As a member of the UN Global Compact, Momentum is part of the world’s largest movement of companies and organizations working for a more socially just and sustainable future. We fully support the ten principles of respecting human and labor rights, protecting the environment and climate and preventing corruption.
Membership commits us to continuously evaluate our strategy, processes and culture to identify areas where we can improve our practices and ensure that we operate in accordance with the Global Principles. In this way, it is an important support in our efforts to minimize negative impacts on both people and the environment in our value chain.
