Green light for groundbreaking wind turbine project in Kastrup-Tiset

Haderslev City Council gives green light to next step for Momentum’s groundbreaking 34 MW wind turbine project in Kastrup-Tiset

At the end of February 2024, the City Council of Haderslev Municipality voted 28-2 to allow a project to build 17 x Vestas V80 2 MW wind turbines in Kastrup-Tiset to continue the process of adopting a local plan for the installation of the turbines.

Now follows a series of formal actions with public hearings, documentation and studies, including the preparation of an environmental assessment report, etc.

The City Council is expected to make a final decision on the local plan in September 2025, after which planning can begin immediately.

The project is groundbreaking in its form, as it is expected to use 17 fully refurbished Vestas V80-2.0 MW wind turbines with a total capacity of 34 MW. At the same time, it is characterized by citizen involvement and landscape considerations with a large distance to neighbours that goes far beyond the usual legal requirements for wind turbine projects in Denmark. As part of the dialog with neighbors and the City Council, it is also planned to dismantle 17 existing wind turbines in the area in connection with the installation of the new ones.

The wind farm is expected to be completed by the end of 2026 and will produce approximately 77,800,000 kWh/year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of almost 49,000 Danish adults. That’s the equivalent of a city the size of Roskilde.
